And she must start somewhere...

Yet, I have no idea where to start? I have already started jotting down ideas of what I'd like to blog about, practically written entire blog posts in my head (usually while driving down the road!) and my OCD self is trying to be organized and non-rambling about it all. :) I am a 31 year old single woman living in the Des Moines metro area who is just finally finding her feet and landing them on the career path I have always wanted to be on. It's been a LONG road getting here - from being in the mortgage/financial services business for 5 years, then taking a break (not by choice but result of layoffs) so I danced around in a few temp jobs, got to dip my toes in running a prom store for 4 months (and just finished my 3rd season here!) and then landed a glorious job with the State of Iowa. I work for the Department of Human Services (which means I determine eligibility for food stamps and Medicaid) - so I say glorious due to the paycheck and benefits I get from working here. NOT because it's my new career path. I have my fingers in a handful of other things...like Mary Kay, Silpada and Body by Vi and am just starting my own business as a Wedding/Event Planner - Simply Divine Wedding and Events. If you can't tell - I like to stay busy, very busy. The proverbial plate in front of me isn't just full - it's overflowing with things going on.

And I'm just starting on the path to make some major changes in my life. More to come on those...there's a lot going on in my head, different paths my feet are going to dance down than I ever thought I would and it's just the beginning of this journey. So, you're all in luck. You'll get to experience the roller coaster I'm about to jump on. It's exciting, scary and thrilling - I promise!

So this blog is going to be to take you on my new career journey, a place for me to tell you how it's finally come to this and all the amazing things that have happened in my life to get me here (I promise these stories and info won't suck...it will be entertaining too, I'm a complete smartass), to talk about different dating things, other DIY projects, ideas and the like.

So let's get it started - wait, that's tomorrow. Or the next day. I'm having dinner/drinks on a patio tomorrow night with a wonderful friend so I make no promises on dutifully doing this again tomorrow!

PS - Is it bad that I consider it a successful first post if I managed to NOT use the f-word? It is one of my favorites. :)
